At The Choice Therapy, we offer online support for individuals aged 16 and over, working with a wide range of concerns at a mild to moderate level of severity. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or wanting to reconnect with what matters, therapy can help.

50-Minute Telehealth Session

A full therapy session delivered via secure video, from the comfort of your own space. Sessions focus on what matters most to you — whether that’s navigating difficult emotions, building practical strategies, or reconnecting with your values. Rooted in evidence-based approaches like ACT and CBT.

30-Minute Telehealth Brief Intervention

A focused, short-term session designed for specific support — whether you're stuck with something in the moment or want to check in between longer sessions. Great for practical strategies, grounding tools, or quick support when you need it.

    Consent to Treatment

    You are engaging in counselling services with Robin Lawrence Cubis, Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AASW Member #663869). Robin adheres to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Code of Ethics and Practice Standards.

    Robin provides evidence-based therapy focused on supporting your wellbeing, values, and goals.
    Please note: Robin does not provide formal mental health diagnoses. If your needs require diagnostic assessment or medical intervention, a referral to a GP, psychiatrist, or clinical psychologist may be made.

    Counselling sessions typically last either 30 or 50 minutes and are delivered via a secure online platform through Halaxy Telehealth.

    Payment for private clients is managed securely through Halaxy. A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking, with the remaining balance payable on the day of the appointment. Please note that any processing fees charged by Halaxy will be passed on to the client.

    No Diagnosis Policy

    As a Mental Health Social Worker, Robin does not diagnose mental health disorders. The therapy focuses on person-centred support. When necessary, referrals for diagnostic assessment will be made.

    Confidentiality Limits / Duty of Care

    Your privacy is paramount, and all information shared during therapy is confidential according to Australian Privacy Principles and AASW Code of Ethics, with the following exceptions where disclosure is required by law or ethical duty:

    • If there is an imminent risk of serious harm to yourself or others

    • If there is reasonable suspicion of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a child or vulnerable person

    • If court orders subpoena your records

    • If mandatory reporting obligations apply

    Where possible, Robin will discuss any disclosures with you before proceeding.

    Use of Halaxy and Telehealth Services

    Your client records, appointments, and communications are managed via Halaxy, a secure and privacy-compliant practice management platform. Telehealth sessions are conducted through Halaxy’s secure portal.

    While every effort is made to protect your privacy and confidentiality during online sessions, telehealth involves some inherent risks, including but not limited to:

    • Potential interruptions or disconnections due to internet or technical issues

    • Limitations in non-verbal communication compared to in-person sessions

    • Possible breaches of privacy if sessions are attended from insecure or shared locations

    • Risk of unauthorized access or data breaches despite platform security measures

    Clients are encouraged to use a private, secure space with a reliable internet connection when attending telehealth sessions to minimise these risks.

    Communication and Email Risks

    Email and digital communications are used for appointment reminders, booking, and invoicing. Email is not a fully secure method of communication and carries risks such as interception or misdelivery.

    Robin checks emails during business hours and responds within this time frame. Please be aware that messages sent outside business hours may not be read or responded to immediately.

    Not a Crisis Service

    The Choice Therapy is a counselling service and does not provide crisis or emergency support. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, feeling unsafe, or in immediate danger, please contact emergency services on 000 or reach out to one of the following crisis support lines:

    For your safety, please do not use this service for urgent or emergency help.

    Payment, Cancellation, and No-Show Policy

    • Booking and Payment: A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your appointment. The remaining balance is payable on the day of the session. Payments are processed securely through Halaxy. Please note any processing fees charged by Halaxy will be passed on to you.

    • Cancellation: Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a fee of 50% of the session amount.

    • No-Shows: Failure to attend a booked appointment without notice (“no-show”) will incur a fee of 50% of the session amount.

    • Refunds: Deposits are non-refundable except where sessions are cancelled by the therapist or in compassionate circumstances.

    Ending Counselling and Consent

    You may withdraw consent or end therapy at any time. If you wish to stop counselling, please notify Robin to enable a smooth transition or referral if needed.
